50% GSR Position during 16-17 academic year with the Center for the Study of Women for research on gender and everyday water use in Los Angeles

50% GSR position (with tuition and fee remission) in the Center for the Study of Women for research design, methodology, and planning work on the research project “Gender and Everyday Water Use in Los Angeles Households.” 20 hours/week during the fall quarter, beginning as soon as possible. The GSR will work with other CSW staff and PI Prof. Jessica Cattelino, CSW Associate Director, to build the methodology, research design, and other preparations for an ethnographic study of gender and domestic water use in four Los Angeles neighborhoods. Research is funded by UCLA’s “Grand Challenge” on Sustainable LA. The fall 2016 quarter is focused on research preparation. By the end of the quarter, the GSR will complete the following: a) join PI in consulting campus experts on team research methods and household observation methods; b) read relevant scholarship on research methods and write a one- or two-paragraph description (appropriate for scholarly articles) of methods to be employed; c) work closely with PI on research design; d) complete IRB application; e) if possible, design platforms and filing systems for sharing and archiving research conducted by multiple teams. The position could continue through the academic year, shifting focus to assisting with pilot research oversight, training research teams, and launching the team research.
