Edward Blankenship III
Edward Blankenship is in his third year as a doctoral student of the program of Iranian Studies at UCLA. He holds a master’s in Histories and Cultures of Islamic Societies from Harvard University and a bachelor’s in French and in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from McDaniel College. He is also a recipient of the Dean’s Scholar Award.
His interests encompass all aspects of Iranian philology and history, focusing on languages of the Eastern Iranian world and the history of pre-Islamic Iranian Central Asia. Additionally, he is interested in the effects of linguistic and cultural exchange as well as the development of orthographic systems.
