Welcome Message from the Director of Undergraduate Studies

As the current Director of Undergraduate Studies, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our undergraduate program website.

The Department of Near Eastern Languages & Cultures (NELC) offers majors in Ancient Near East & Egyptology, Arabic, Iranian Studies, Jewish Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies. We are comprised of more than thirty-five faculty and lecturers teaching a wide variety of classes covering the languages, literatures, religions, and histories of the Near and Middle East.

NELC students comprise different countries and diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, and upon graduation go on to pursue a wide variety of occupations not only in the United States but also all over the world. Many of our undergraduates also pursue advanced degrees in related fields.

Please be sure to check out our NELC courses for more information.

Sincerely,
Gina Konstantopoulos
