Elisabeth Koch
Graduate Student
Elisabeth Koch is a Ph.D. student in Iranian Studies and Egyptology. She holds both a Bachelor’s in Ancient Studies and Master’s in Egyptology from Freie Universität Berlin. While studying, Elisabeth interned in museum collections and research projects. She also worked as a Student Research Assistant for the library of the Eurasia department of the German Archaeological Institute (2015) and the project Database and Dictionary of Greek Loanwords in Coptic (2015-2019). Elisabeth excavated with various projects in Germany and Egypt focusing on excavating at religious sites. Between 2017 and 2019, Elisabeth was elected to represent the Department of History and Cultural Studies’ student body on the Department Council. After obtaining her Master’s, Elisabeth worked as a Research Assistant with the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo and volunteered for the American Research Center in Egypt, before joining UCLA for Fall 2020.
