Dan is in his seventh year at UCLA. His focus is on Greco-Persian interaction during the Achaemenid period, but he is also interested in all aspects of pre-Islamic Iranian history, Classical history, Latin, Greek, and Persian philology, and Greek and Roman historiography. He is currently writting his dissertation on the use of treaties in the Achaemenid Persian empire.
He is the recipient of fellowships such as the Mellon Fellowship of Distinction, the Diebold Fellowship, and the Roshan Institute Fellowship for Excellence in Persian Studies.
Outside of academia, he enjoys various martial arts, cooking, running, and traveling the world in the search for a good meal.
