UCLA will offer a summer Persian class for high school students who are exposed to Persian at home and want to learn to read, write, or develop their speaking, listening, and literacy skills.

About the Instructor
Saeid Atoofi holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from UCLA and currently works in the Department of ESL at El Camino College. He has a wide educational and research training in Persian as a heritage language. Previously, he worked as an associate professor of English linguistics in University of Chile, where he was the recipient of two FONDECYT grants in issues of Second Language Acquisition. He is the author of ‘Farsi (Persian) for Beginners: Mastering Conversational Farsi,’ and has widely published in scientific journals in areas that deals with heritage language theory and pedagogy.
