Luke Wagner

Graduate Student
E-mail: lukewagner@g.ucla.edu

Luke Wagner (he/him/his) was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After completing a BA and MA in Biblical Literature at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Luke received his Master of Theology degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Luke’s research interests include the Hebrew Bible, prophetic literature, Achaemenid imperial art and iconography, the intersection of images and texts in the ancient world, Hebrew and other Semitic languages, and metaphor theory. While at UCLA, Luke hopes to expand his understanding of the early Achaemenid empire, artistic conventions and material culture throughout the ancient Near East, and various ancient Near Eastern languages (e.g., Old Persian, Ugaritic, Luwian), as well as gain teaching and tutoring experience. In addition to studying the Hebrew Bible and the ancient Near East, Luke loves reading fiction (especially literary fiction, westerns, and sci-fi), drinking coffee, exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with his wife and son.
