Paige Gibson

Graduate Student
E-mail: plgibson@g.ucla.edu

Paige Gibson (she/her/hers) completed her BA in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at University of Washington, Seattle, and her MA in Arabic and Islamic Studies with an emphasis in Arabic literature at American University in Cairo. Early in her academic journey, Paige was interested in Islamic Spain and the different languages, cultures and religions that mingled there. Now she has expanded her research to the Early Modern Mediterranean and specifically the Early Modern Islamicate world. In the Islamic Studies program at UCLA Paige hopes to continue her studies of religion across these regions, focusing especially on conversions between religion and the literature written by converts. When not studying, Paige enjoys classic Egyptian cinema, making coffee, and exploring new cities.
