The Center for Near Eastern Studies will hold an information session on the GAANN Fellowship program for AY 2017-18.  The award will support UCLA graduate training in interdisciplinary studies focused on the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.  GAANN Fellowships are provided by a grant from the US Department of Education. The purpose of the program is to enrich the nation’s pool of MENA specialists who intend to pursue a career in teaching and advancing American understanding of the region.

New and continuing UCLA graduate students pursuing a PhD in any discipline, with a focus on the MENA region, may apply for the GAANN award.

Talented students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Award Amounts:

Stipend: The academic year graduate GAANN Fellowship provides a stipend of up to $34,000 – final amount to be based on students demonstrated level of financial need.

Tuition & Fees: Graduate student fees and tuition (in-state) are also covered.
