Subject: Arabic Proofreading Consultancy for Artist
Dear Carol & Isamara,
I am writing from conceptual artist Jenny Holzer’s New York studio in search of native Arabic speaking proofreaders in development of an upcoming artwork. The work will involve several full days in the coming weeks reviewing written Arabic as it is rendered in a new font. This enquiry is for independent contractors, and is not an offer of employment. Because the reviews must happen on site, the candidate must be based in the Los Angeles area, and can travel to the review site.
We look for proofreaders who are thorough and ideally would have some experience reading older Arabic texts and proverbs that feature older tashkil. Familiarity with formatting of early and pre-Islamic texts is duly helpful.
If you know of any eligible graduate students for the work, please pass on my contact, and ask them to submit a CV and suggested hourly rate for the Studio to review. Many thanks in advance, and hope to hear from you soon.
Kindly,
Evan
